Marble

Many people feel that marble with its unique swirls is more beautiful than granite. Marble is a metamorphic rock that has been altered under high pressure and temperature. In its purest form, marble is white calcite. Most marble, however, is infused with impurities providing variations in color and significant "movement." Marble is softer than granite and therefore subject to greater wear.
